The government parliamentary group is meeting under the chairmanship of president Mahinda Rajapaksa to discuss key issues faced by Sri Lanka, says BBC Sandeshaya.
The meeting at a Bentota tourism resort will elaborate on many issues, including the government’s action plan on the UNHRC probe into alleged human rights violations in the final stages of the war.

During their overnight stay, the ruling MPs will also exchange views on the country’s development, economic situation and the upcoming polls for the Uva provincial council, but not on the presidential election expected next year.

Catholic ministers in the government have requested the president to put off the presidential polls said to take place in January 2014 in view of the visit by Pope Francis to Sri Lanka in that month.
